2. You are in an emotionally disturbed state.

There is frequently a communication gap between the patient and the surgeon regarding the change that the patient desires in the shape of the nose. So its extremely important that you express your desires very accurately to the surgeon and both of you put down on paper the changes that are needed. You can also coordinate with the surgeon in using photo editing software so that both of you are on the same page regarding the changes you want and the possible result which will ensue.

Its a day care procedure usually done under general anaesthesia And you are completely unaware during the procedure.
There are 2 types of surgeries - open or closed.
1. In open rhinoplasty, a cut is made inside the nostrils as well as on the pillar between the 2 nostrils. This is done so that exposure to underlying structure is much more
2. In closed rhinoplasty, the cut is only inside the nostrils.

The choice is usually made by the surgeon depending on the kind of techniques to be carried out
In either case, the scars are not visible

You will have a small splint or paper tapes on the nose. After the surgery your nose will drip for 3-4 days; there is a small pad to soak this. There is a stuffy feeling just like a cold and your eyes could water for about 5 days. There can be swelling of the nose, cheeks and the eyes which can persist for 5-7 days. Some patients can have to bruise with purple discolouration under the eyes which could take 7-10 days to go.
The swelling and surgical appearance takes a week to 10 days to settle down. You can be socially active after 2 weeks.

1. The resultant shape is not exactly as you desire
2. Some untoward results like asymmetry or a pinched look
3. Infection
4. Difficulty in breathing
5. Pollybeak deformating which basically gives a hook like appearance to the nose

1. If an implant has been inserted, there is a small chance of infection or extrusion.

2. Any distortion in the shape.
